The CECAMM level 3 Craft course is designed to allow learners with a more practical skill to advance their study in engineering,  

What you will learn

At Level 3 we offer a Certificate in Fabrication & Welding Technology Engineering that contains a mix of Engineering skills, Work Experience, and a Future Focus Project. All as outlined below:

Engineering Skills Include (but are not exclusive to):

Engineering Environmental Health & Safety:This unit is intended to ensure the learner has the essential knowledge and understanding of the engineering environment in relation to the requirements of current legislation, working safely, personal development and the factors that influence the engineering industry.

Producing Plate Fabrications: This unit enables the learner to acquire both the knowledge and skills necessary to use the techniques and equipment required in the production of plate work fabrications. They will develop the knowledge of tools, equipment and techniques and apply this knowledge in a practical task.

Fabrication and Welding Principles: This unit enables the learner to develop the knowledge common to all aspects of fabrication and welding engineering. It covers materials and their treatment and applies math.  

Sheet Metalwork Technology: This unit focuses on the essential knowledge required to ensure a comprehensive understanding of key aspects of the knowledge and skills required when interpreting drawings, developing suitable patterns, cutting and forming sheet materials into standard shapes and assemblies manually.

New Technologies: CECAMM students are lucky enough to have the opportunity to have use of modern advanced manufacturing equipment, such as 3D printers, Plastic injection molding machines and laser cutters, to name but a few. The team seek to teach new approaches to manufacturing and sustainability that will contribute to a broad set of skills required by local employers.

How you will learn

At level three there is a mix of written and practical work, but the emphasis  is very much on your ability to prove your understanding of the procedures and concepts that you provide through assignments supplemented with photographic evidence of your practical achievements. 

Work placement

Level 3 Learners on this course are required to complete 1 full week of Work Experience to pass their course.

Progression

Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress to Engineering employment OR if you achieve Math's and English GCSE's to Grade 4 you can apply for an Engineering Apprenticeship.

Fees
Students under the age of 18 on the 31st August will be entitled to this course for free, adult learners will be advised based on individual circumstance.

Additional information

Entry on this course is dependent on the successful completion of a level 2 in Engineering or equivalent industry exposure. This course is not suitable for direct access from school  at 16
