This course is ideal for those already working in the hospitality industry who are ready to take the next step into a supervisory or team leader role. It’s designed for individuals who want to develop their leadership skills and take on more responsibility in areas such as restaurants, hotels, bars, or other hospitality settings.
You will be sent a career plan prior to your interview date to complete and bring along with you on the day. The interview is a two-way process which will give you the opportunity to discuss the course and suitability with the subject tutor.
You’ll gain essential skills to lead teams and manage day-to-day operations in hospitality. Key areas include:
Leadership & team management: Motivate, delegate, and lead by example.
Communication: Support your team and deliver excellent customer service.
Customer service supervision: Ensure consistent, high-quality service.
Resource & stock management: Manage time, stock, and budgets effectively.
Health, hygiene & safety: Understand legal duties and maintain safe environments.
Problem-solving & conflict resolution: Handle challenges with confidence.
Sales & promotion: Help promote products and services.
Workplace relationships: Build strong, productive team dynamics.
This is a work-based qualification, so most of your learning will take place on the job. You’ll be assessed through practical tasks, reflective logs, professional discussions, role-plays, and evidence of how you manage real-world situations. You’ll work closely with an assessor who will support your progress throughout.
Once completed, this diploma can lead to more senior roles such as assistant manager, front-of-house supervisor, or team leader. You can also progress onto higher-level qualifications in hospitality management or leadership and continue building your career in the industry.

Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership
As part of the course, students are required to wear a uniform, which can be purchased through a local supplier during enrolment. If you are eligible for financial support through the college bursary, the cost of the uniform can be covered as part of your bursary award.
