This course is designed for individuals who are new to the hospitality industry or looking to build foundational skills for a career in hospitality services. It is ideal for those seeking entry-level positions in hotels, restaurants, cafés, or other customer-facing roles within the sector.
What the interview will involve

You will be sent a career plan prior to your interview date to complete and bring along with you on the day. The interview is a two-way process which will give you the opportunity to discuss the course and suitability with the subject tutor.

What you will learn

Learners will gain practical skills and industry knowledge essential for working in hospitality environments. Key areas of study include:

  • Customer service – Learn how to speak to customers, handle questions, and deal with problems professionally.

  • Food and drink service – Find out how to serve food and drinks, take orders, and work confidently in a restaurant or café.

  • Basic food prep – Get hands-on with kitchen tasks, learn safe food handling, and understand hygiene rules.

  • Teamwork and communication – Develop the skills employers are looking for, like working well with others and staying organised.

  • Extra skills – You’ll also cover menu knowledge, bar service, and health and safety – all really useful for working in the sector.

How you will learn
The course is delivered through a mix of classroom-based learning and practical training in a realistic hospitality setting. Learners will participate in role plays, hands-on service scenarios, and practical food preparation sessions to reinforce their knowledge. Assessment is carried out through observation of practical tasks, workbooks, and short written assignments.
Progression
