Who the course is for

The Award in Management and Leadership is one of a series of progressive management qualifications designed by the Chartered Management Institute and can provide opportunities for progression to other qualifications at the same or higher levels, which could also be work-based or more academically structured.

The courses are aimed at supervisors and first line managers, to support the development of their skills in maintaining and developing the effectiveness and efficiency of the operations for which they are responsible for, by motivating and developing the people who work in the team or department; fostering effective communications and developing a sense of team/corporate identity.

This course is a part of the suite of professional qualifications that are run, accredited and assessed by The Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

What you will learn

The Level 5 Award in Management and Leadership is an introduction to managerial style and aims to provide you with knowledge, understanding and application of management style, managerial effectiveness and efficiency.

To achieve a Chartered Management Institute Certificate in Management and Leadership (QCF), you need to successfully complete three CMI modules.

How you will learn

The course explores how successful organisations make best use of information and knowledge – the key resource in business, and provides a compelling rationale for organisations to use appropriate systems, and for individuals to acquire the skills to manage and use the systems. The course encourages active student participation and concentrates on the practical application of management principles in the context of the developing first-line manager.

Whilst students will study management theories, the work will be put into the context of their own work places or ‘as real’ scenarios. In addition, students will be expected to bring their own examples of practice to the course in order to ensure that the course is as practical based as possible.
