Entry requirements

Minimum of 3 GCSEs grade 3/D or above including Maths and English language. 

Progressing students may require a minimum of Level 1 qualification in your chosen subject at Merit or above and English language and Maths at Level 1. 

Who the course is for

Esports is a fast-growing industry where professional teams face off against each other in competitive video games. 

With this area expanding so much there is many opportunities within Esports that our course can train you for. 

This exciting new Level 2 Esports course helps you gain all the skills needed to work within this area or progress to further study. Throughout this course you will learn how to coach and manage a team, plan and run events and also brand and advertise a team. 

The qualification has been developed in collaboration with employers to ensure that the skills and knowledge being assessed are current and relevant with industry practices. The lessons will consist of lectures, hands on practical, group work, presentations and demonstrations. 

What you will learn

Learners taking this qualification will study six mandatory units: 

 

  • Esports Games, Teams and Tournaments 
  • Establishing an Esports Organisation 
  • Streaming for Esports 
  • Plan an Esports Event 
  • Start an Enterprise in Esports 
  • Positive Health and Well-being in Esports 

 

The mandatory content allows learners to develop their technical skills across range of 

assessment within the units, supported by underpinning knowledge. All assessment relates to the Esports industry. 

Communication skills are developed throughout the units, and students can also enhance their broader skills in computing, while literacy and numeracy skills are also developed throughout 

 

How you will learn

You will be taught in a variety of ways to include workshops, lectures and seminars whilst also undertaking industry placement, to help support and underpin the theoretical knowledge gained in class. Digital methods of teaching and learning will be embedded to enable you to access materials at all times.

  • Guest Speakers from industry 

This course is offered in conjunction with Functional Skills and GCSEs for English and Maths where required. These qualifications aim to develop skills valued by employers. 

Work placement


Progression

Learners taking this qualification may want to progress to further study at Level 3 in areas such as Esports, Computing, Creative Media, Sport, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship or Business. 

Direct Progression route with an appropriate grade profile to Level 3 Esports
