Salary: AP06 £26,110 per annum dependent on skills, qualifications and experience

Hours: Full time, term time only (36 weeks per year); job share will be considered for these roles

The Support Tutor (Cover) provides flexible, high-quality cover for teaching staff during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of learning, student engagement, and effective classroom management. Working from prepared lesson plans and resources, the postholder supports student progress, promotes positive behaviour and attendance, and delivers planned learning activities across a range of curriculum areas while maintaining a safe and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide cover for lessons, tutorials, and planned learning activities during staff absence.

Deliver learning using prepared materials and support student engagement, attendance, progress, and positive behaviour.

Maintain a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment.

Support the delivery of employability, Further Skills, and tutorial programmes.

Provide individual and small-group learner support, including students with SEND and additional needs.

Monitor attendance and student progress, recording and reporting concerns or issues as required.

Work collaboratively with curriculum teams and student support services to meet learner needs.

Use College systems effectively and complete all required records and administration.

Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive learner outcomes.

Undertake relevant training and work flexibly across curriculum areas to meet operational requirements.

What You Will Need:

Level 2 qualification (GCSE grade A – C or equivalent) in English and Maths or willing to work towards within 2 years

Level 3 vocational qualification in relevant teaching areas

Have completed Award in Education and Training certificate or the equivalent (HLTA status) for post-16 education, and complete within 2 years Cert Ed/PGCE

Experience of working with young people and/or adults in an education, training, youth work or support setting
