Applicants should hold level 1 Carpentry qualification. Mature learners with appropriate experience may be considered for direct entry to level 2.
Who the course is for
For those who wish to test their aspirations for working within the construction industry.
What you will learn
This course will introduce you to a range of construction trades. Site carpentry including: Door hanging, Kitchen fitting, Basic roofing, Straight flight of stairs.
How you will learn
This programme is delivered through a combination of classroom theory and a predominance of practical skills development. Much of the curriculum deliver is based on the college campus but we also carry out some projects within the community. You will be assessed through Practical and Theory based assessments both in the classroom and workshop. Completion of workbook. Theory test – Online, multiple choice questions Practical, Phase test.
Progression
Level 3 Carpentry, Employment, Self employment. There are opportunities for Carpenters all over the United Kingdom. Employers range from small businesses to large organisations. In large companies there may be opportunities for experienced carpenters to become team leaders or supervisors. Some experienced carpenters become self-employed and set up their own businesses.

Additional information
You will be required to wear PPE, including safety footwear and work trousers. All practical Carpentry and Joinery tools and equipment will be provided.
