A level 2 in Motor Vehicle is required in order to access Level 3 along with a GCSE's in Maths & English at grade 4

Who the course is for

This qualification is for those wanting to progress in the Motor industry to Technician level. It gives you the opportunity to gain further critical, core skills and knowledge and helps you explore the higher technicalities of the motor industry.

How you will learn

You will enjoy a mix of theory and practical sessions in our 10 lift workshop with working MOT centre. Theory sessions will provide the technicalities behind the practical work, and allow the exploration of the knowledge required to then demonstrate the higher levels of Technician skills.

Work placement

As a part of your course, you will be required to complete industry work experience.

Additional information
  • PPE & Uniform is required for this course and learners will not be allowed into the workshop/classrooms without the following
  • Work trousers or overalls – not jogging style trousers 
  • Safety foot wear, either boots, shoes or trainers 


      The college uses IDML in Newport for all its uniform and this can be bought directly from them. Simply go to IDML and say that you are a Motor Vehichle student and what level you are on as the colours change per level.
