Who the course is for

Do you have the caring and compassionate approach necessary for a career in the health care or social care sectors?  Do you have the courage to stand up for someone’s person-centred rights?  Are you committed to empowering individuals?  Can you communicate with, for and on behalf of others?  This course will offer you the chance to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours expected of health and social care practitioners.

This course is a full time option for students aged 16-19 and for students aged 19+.

This course is a two-year study programme, equivalent to three A-Levels.  It is a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification which carries UCAS points for entry into University.  It is primarily for young people who want to move into Adult Social Care roles.  For Health Care roles, please apply for the T-Level.

In your first year, some of your units are about human growth and development, equality and diversity, safeguarding, psychology, sociology, and infection control. In your second year, your units will include empowerment, anatomy and physiology, and research skills. You will also learn some important study skills, such as how to reference your assignments, the importance of meeting deadlines, and how to differentiate between good quality and low quality sources of information.
