  • At least 4 GCSEs or equivalent qualification at grade 4, including English and Maths
  • Progressing students, completion of level 2 qualification and grade 4 in English and Maths
Who the course is for

This course is for learners that have successfully achieved a level 2 Hairdressing Qualification

  • Consultation support for colleagues on hair services
  • Cut women's hair to create a variety of looks
  • Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques
  • Colour hair to create a variety of looks
  • Bridal Styling
  • Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
How you will learn

Theory/ Workshop sessions- Here you will receive all the essential underpinning knowledge related to the subject area. These sessoions are for delivery and demonstration of the practical skills of your qualification

Salon practical sessions- These are designed salon sessions in which you will gain confidence in working in a real salon environment, working on peers, family and friends

As an essential part of learning all students will be expected to receive and complete treatments (unless medically exempt) within the practical sessions from peers.

Tutorial Sessions: These are designed to support your individual academic progress, and to monitor your course progression by way of action planning and review.

City and Guilds level 3 Certificate in Women's hairdressing

Additional information

All students studying at the Isle of Wight College will carry out treatments on clients/models. This vital experience will prepare you for employment and working in the hair and beauty industry. Watching demonstrations and carrying out treatments on models, as well as each other, is also high on the learning agenda

You will be required to wear a uniform in the salons

If your course requires a kit, you will be expected to purchase one to support your learning. More information on this will be given to you at your induction
