IW College Media Students Explore Creative Futures at Southampton Solent University

On Thursday 15th January 2026, Studio B’s Media Department braved the wet and windy weather to take ten T-Level Media, Broadcast & Production Year 1 students across the water to Southampton Solent University for their annual Creative Industries Taster Day. Solent’s Creative Industries faculty offered an impressive selection of 16 hands-on workshops, each showcasing the breadth of courses and career pathways available in the media and creative sectors. 🏴‍☠️ Pirate Podcasting While students were immersed in their creative activities, IW College Media tutors were given a guided tour of Solent’s cutting-edge facilities. This included a look at their Virtual Production Studio, state-of-the-art animation department, and the wider creative technology spaces that support student learning. The day proved to be both inspiring and eye-opening for everyone involved. Not only did students gain valuable insights into university-level study and future career opportunities, but they were also able to take home the digital content they created during the workshops — a fantastic addition to their portfolios. Overall, it was an enlightening and engaging visit, leaving both staff and students excited about the next steps in their creative journeys.
