We are proud to have supported the Mountbatten Isle of Wight Hospice Walk the Wight, which took place on Sunday 10 May, by helping to create something truly special for the day.

Students at IW College worked incredibly hard to design and build five bespoke marker arches that welcomed and encouraged walkers as they made their way around this much‑loved annual Island event. Created by our Carpentry and Painting & Decorating students, the arches celebrated the walkers’ journey while showcasing the students’ creativity, practical skills and attention to detail. The project is a fantastic example of learning brought to life through a real community partnership, supporting an important local cause.

We were delighted to welcome members of the Mountbatten Hospice team into our workshops ahead of the event to see the progress being made. We were also pleased to be joined by a representative from Dulux, who very kindly supplied paint for the project, along with Sydenhams, whose generous support helped make the build possible. Our sincere thanks go to all involved, and to the Mountbatten team for the vital work they do for our community.

Congratulations to all the students and staff who took part in Walk the Wight on the day. If you spotted the arches along the route, you’ll have seen the result of weeks of hard work, teamwork and community spirit. We’re honoured to have played a part in such an important event and are incredibly proud of everyone involved.
