Incredible India: A Transformational Journey for Students
Nine ambitious students from UKSA, Public Services, Sport, and Graphic Design programmes have returned from a life-changing two-week international education experience at Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab, India. This immersive programme blended cultural discovery with enterprise and innovation, leaving participants with invaluable skills and unforgettable memories.
Week One: Cultural Discovery & Foundational Learning
The first week focused on cultural awareness, confidence, and collaboration. Students explored the rich heritage of India with a visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, gaining insight into Sikh values of service and equality. They embraced campus life at LPU through yoga sessions, Hindi language classes, and traditional textile printing workshops. A highlight was community service in Phillaur Village, where students worked alongside international peers to support environmental projects and engage with local children. Sports activities such as cricket and volleyball fostered teamwork and cultural exchange.
Week Two: Enterprise, Innovation & Personal Growth
Building on these foundations, the second week introduced students to global industry practices through tours of Nivia Sports and Tynor Orthotics, offering a behind-the-scenes look at manufacturing and product development. Creativity flourished in cooking classes, clay modelling, and calligraphy workshops, while a cultural fashion show gave students the chance to showcase confidence and presentation skills in front of distinguished guests, including delegates from Nepal and the British High Commission. The journey concluded with an exploration of Chandigarh’s modern identity, connecting academic learning with real-world experiences.
A Lasting Impact
This Incredible India programme strengthened resilience, adaptability, and independence, while developing leadership, communication, and global awareness. Students returned home with new friendships, a deeper appreciation for diversity, and the confidence to step beyond their comfort zones—an experience that will shape their future aspirations and world perspective.
