The Isle of Wight College Horticulture Department was proud to showcase student-propagated plants as part of a special display at Department in Ryde, celebrating plants, growing and harvest in its broadest sense.
The display brought together a range of organisations from across the Island to highlight the importance of horticulture, gardening and the wider green industries. We were delighted to exhibit alongside respected organisations including Osborne House and Ventnor Botanic Garden, demonstrating the diverse opportunities and positive impact that horticulture has within our local community.
For our students, seeing their propagated plants featured in a public exhibition was a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the hard work, dedication and practical skills they had developed throughout their studies. Plant propagation is a key aspect of horticultural training, requiring patience, care and attention to detail, and the display provided an excellent opportunity for students to see the results of their efforts celebrated by the wider community.
As proud members of Green on Wight (GROW), a not-for-profit organisation that promotes horticulture and green careers across the Isle of Wight, we were delighted to contribute to an event that highlighted the importance of the sector and inspired interest in green industries.
The exhibition offered a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our students while showcasing the valuable role horticulture plays across the Island. Their involvement was a testament to the enthusiasm, knowledge and practical skills being developed within our Horticulture Department.
We would like to thank everyone involved in organising the display and supporting the promotion of horticulture across the Isle of Wight. It was a fantastic community celebration and a proud moment to see our students' work displayed alongside some of the Island's leading horticultural organisations.
