Who the course is for

This 12-week intermediate photography leisure course is designed for learners who already have some photography experience or who have completed a beginner-level course and are ready to develop their skills further.

What you will learn

The course encourages learners to move beyond technical basics and explore the creative capture of light in its many forms. Through a combination of structured technical instruction and creative experimentation, learners will develop a deeper understanding of how light behaves, how it can be shaped and controlled, and how it influences an image’s mood, meaning, and visual impact.

There is a strong emphasis on the effective use of Speedlites to achieve purposeful, controlled illumination, alongside techniques for observing, recording, and interpreting light in a range of environments. In addition to strengthening technical competence, learners are encouraged to explore conceptual approaches to photography, using light not only as a practical tool but as a visual language for storytelling, abstraction, and personal expression.

This course supports the continued development of both practical and creative skills, providing a clear progression route from beginner-level photography into more confident, expressive photographic practice.
