There is no entry requirement for studying on the ESOL English programme, but you will be asked to complete an initial assessment which will assess your level of English and determine the level of your course of study.
This course is for part-time learners whose native language is not English, who live or plan to live in the UK. It is suitable for all levels of English learner - from beginner to advanced. It is an exam-based course taught over three modules: Reading, Writing and Speaking & Listening. At the end of each termly module students complete a City and Guilds ESOL qualification.
As part of the ESOL course, you will learn and practice skills associated with the four disciplines of language acquisition:
- Speaking
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing
In addition to this, you will learn about employment in the UK, whilst developing wider skills.
Learners will access 2 sessions across the week for studies.

Learners can progress on to higher levels up to ESOL Level 1. From there, learners will be able to access Functional Skills and GCSE English.
Nationally recognised qualifications in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. In addition to this, you will also have access to Employability qualifications to strengthen your CV further.
Some students may be eligible for public funding upon application. Evidence of visa or residency status, via a Share Code, is required upon application.
