The qualification is aimed at learners who are looking to progress to further education or to employment in the esports industry, possibly via an apprenticeship in a related industry.
It offers learners the opportunity to study esports alongside a broad range of L2 qualifications, such as English, Mathematics, media, IT, sports, business or enterprise.
You will be sent a career plan prior to your interview date to complete and bring along with you on the day. The interview is a two-way process which will give you the opportunity to discuss the course and suitability with the subject tutor.
Learners taking this qualification will study two mandatory units:
- Unit 1: Esports Games, Teams and Tournaments
- Unit 2: Establishing an Esports Organisation.
The mandatory content allows learners to develop their technical skills across range of
assessment within the units, supported by underpinning knowledge. All assessment relates to the esports industry.
Communication skills are developed throughout the units, and students can also enhance their broader skills in ICT, while literacy and numeracy skills are also developed throughout. If the qualification is studied alongside a level 2 qualification in English and/or Mathematics, it will provide numerous opportunities to develop relevant skills and knowledge.
You will be taught in a variety of ways to include workshops, lectures and seminars whilst also undertaking industry placement, to help support and underpin the theoretical knowledge gained in class.
As a part of your course, you will be working from our new state-of-the-art Esports Gaming Studio to plan, organise and participate in regular gaming tournaments. To further develop your transferable skills, as a class you will need to establish Esports organisation, design its logo and implement successful marketing plan to promote it.
This course is offered in conjunction with Functional Skills and GCSEs for English and Maths where required.
As a part of your course, you will be required to complete 36 hours of work experience
There may be a cost involved for purchasing equipment or uniform for your course.Find out about financial support available.
