Course Theory Handouts available on Teams or as a pre- printed easy to read copy
Learner practice packs: which contain all of the practice materials that you will need prior to assessment taking place, checklists and all associated guidance for learners for tasks 1 - 8
Supplementary assessment materials: which contains both theory and practical tasks and are marked by the centre
Teaching and learning methods
How will I learn?
The College day is usually from 9am until 4.30pm, however we do offer courses at nights as well
This course is a programme of both practical and written work, directed private study and practical tasks in the workshop. In addition to technical subjects, personal and interpersonal skills are developed and assessed as an integral part of the course as well as the Functional Skills, ICT, Maths and English.
Continuous assessment of performance is carried out by means of classroom and practical tasks in the workshops. All modules are formally assessed and final grades are subject to moderation by the course team and a representative from City and Guilds

Computer and Internet Access
Internet access is available through the wireless system, we have a number of easy access computers for your use, and you will have time to use various internet resources to support your studies.
All textbooks needed for the course are available in the LRC for temporary loan from the main reception desk
Please look after the books so that they are kept in good condition for students in subsequent years. If you damage or lose these books you will be held responsible for the cost of providing a replacement copy.
You need to bring with you
Personal Protective Equipment (All PPE must meet fire retardant standards) including safety glasses and safety boots or shoes
A small padlock and key for your locker if you wish to have one here
You will need to take notes throughout your course so having your own note pad and pen is essential

Practical Tasks
All practical tasks will be completed in the CECAMM workshop environment, using 1.5mm – 3.2mm Aluminium Sheet and Tube
- Produce a butt weld in the PA flat position
- Produce a lap fillet weld in the PB horizontal/vertical position
- Produce a tee fillet weld in the PB horizontal/vertical position
- Produce a tee fillet weld in the PF vertical-up position
- Produce a tube-to-sheet tee fillet weld in the PB horizontal/vertical position
