Newport, Isle of Wight – The Isle of Wight College proudly hosted its Annual Student Awards Ceremony on Friday 4 July, celebrating the remarkable achievements of its students and their strong connection to the community.

The event, held at the Riverside Centre in Newport, recognised the hard work, dedication, and outstanding accomplishments of students across various disciplines. We would like to thank our community partners who attended the ceremony and kindly sponsored individual student awards, this included; IOW Youth Trust, NHS Hampshire & Isle of Wight Healthcare, Gurit, Police and Crime Commissioner Hampshire & IOW, Arts University Bournemouth, Monday Creative, Strings Bar and Venue, The Price is Wight, Rob Mew, Richmond's Bakery, Vikoma, WRS Systems, Bright Brown Accountants, Cherry Godfrey, Eldridges Solicitors, Mountbatten, Ventnor Friends of Wight Horticulture, Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, PC Consultants, Villa Rothsay Hotel, Sandham Office Solutions, Richardsons Yacht Services, RPL Construction, Island Roads, ERMC Chartered Surveyors, Wightfibre, Howden Insurance, GKN, and ICR Touch. Special thanks to Hayden Taylor and Carl Atkinson-Goffe for their time as our compere and guest speaker.

The awards presented were for the following Achievements: Progress Award, Dedication to learning, Peer Support and Leadership Award and an Outstanding Award for overall achievement. The afternoon ended with higher education awards and the presentation of the Student of the Year Award. This was awarded to Christian Rogers (Business) for his dedication and determination to his work and leadership qualities. The two runner ups were: Sophie Lewis (Sports) and Ewan Winkles (Leisure & Tourism).

Principal, Ros Parker, expressed immense pride in the students' achievements, stating, "Our students have shown incredible resilience and dedication. The celebration on Friday was a testament to their hard work and the unwavering support of our staff and wider community. The Isle of Wight College is committed to providing an environment where our students can develop their skills, confidence and independence whilst making a positive contribution within our local community. We are extremely proud of our Student of the Year finalists who are an inspiration to others."

The Annual Student Awards Ceremony not only celebrated individual accomplishments but also reinforced the strong bond between The Isle of Wight College and the local community.
