Course delivery and exam

The course is being delivered remotely through teams, so you will need to be able to access this.

There is also a book that will need to be purchased from Makaton directly.

Workshops use limited power point sessions, practical sign and symbol instruction sessions with the tutor, practical sign and symbol activities and games, similar to those that they can use with those they work with, to build use of the vocabulary in sentences and in functional daily situations. There are also DVD clips of Makaton being used with both children and adults in a variety of situations to give visual examples of how it is used. Learning is further consolidated by flexible teaching approach with all sessions being interactive and enabling questions to be asked and encouraging discussion. The tutor always demonstrates signs clearly and constantly monitors the signing of participants, giving clear feedback to ensure signs are made accurately.
