Everyone at The College is very much looking forward to welcoming new and returning students back on campus in Newport and at CECAMM.
Our priority is to help ensure you have a safe and also enjoyable and rewarding time while studying at College.
We are taking into account the latest government guidelines for COVID-19 and this means the start of the new term will be different.
Towards the end of August we will be contacting each student via the email provided on your application form to confirm the specific arrangements for your course, including the date and time for your first day at College.
Either as a new student, or someone who is returning, the facilities on site and your day to day routine will be slightly different. There will be additional health and safety arrangements in place and we will provide more details when we contact you again and during your induction week. This will include changes to the layout of classrooms, workshops, toilets and other communal spaces, as well as other social distancing measures.
There will also be additional cleaning, provision of hand sanitiser and other protective measures in line with the latest government guidelines. The wearing of masks is currently not mandatory in Colleges, but some staff and learners may choose to do so, which we respect.
For students who are at an increased risk from COVID-19 the College will be able to complete an individual learner risk assessment to assess how best to support you in your studies at College.
If you or your parents/carers feel you require a risk assessment or you have any concerns about returning to College please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and someone will contact you to discuss your circumstances and how we can support you.
All students will also be encouraged to bring their own electronic device for completing work (e.g. a laptop or smart tablet) as this will reduce the need to share computers on campus. This will also enable you to complete online work at home when required to do so. If you do not have a device and you are entitled to a bursary, we may be able to support you with the provision of a laptop.
If you have any specific questions about your course or would like further information and guidance on your course options at College, we are available through the summer to offer friendly advice and support. Please contact us at any time via email@example.com and we will be happy to help.
Finally, we look forward to seeing you in September and please keep an eye out for an email from us later in August to confirm start arrangements for your course.
In the meantime we hope you have a safe and enjoyable summer.
