Plumbing Technician

Salary: £26,110 per annum dependent on skills, qualifications and experience

Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

The Plumbing Technician supports the effective delivery of practical teaching and learning by maintaining workshops, equipment, tools and resources to a high standard. Working closely with lecturers, the role provides technical support for practical sessions, promotes a safe and industry-standard learning environment, and helps students achieve their learning objectives. The postholder also ensures compliance with health and safety requirements, manages stock and equipment, and collaborates with curriculum teams, Estates and suppliers to keep workshops fully operational and support continuous improvement across the College.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain plumbing workshops, ensuring equipment, tools and resources are safe, clean and ready for use.

Provide technical support to lecturers and students during practical sessions.

Inspect, maintain and arrange repairs for workshop equipment as required.

Ensure the safe storage and organisation of tools, materials and equipment.

Monitor stock levels, maintain inventory records and order supplies when needed.

Process purchase orders, manage deliveries and liaise with suppliers.

Prepare materials, equipment and resources for practical teaching sessions.

Set up and clear teaching areas, keeping workshops clean and organised.

Support compliance with health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Contribute to the improvement and upkeep of workshop facilities and resources.

Work collaboratively with curriculum staff, Estates, suppliers and support teams.

What You Will Need:

Level 2 qualification (GCSE grade A – C or equivalent) in English and Maths or willing to work towards within 2 years

Minimum Level 2 vocational qualification, equivalent, or willing to work towards

First Aid qualification, or willing to work towards

Experience of working within a plumbing, construction or similar practical workshop environment
