An exciting new opportunity has arisen at the Isle of Wight College!
Do you have experience in the Motor Vehicle industry, and would like to make a difference to the future of young people?
You will be able to support and inspire students, visiting apprentices on site and in the workplace to carry out regular reviews, assessments and on-site observations. Alongside this, you will be able to deliver knowledge in the classroom, sharing the wealth of experience you have, teaching on a range of City & Guilds qualifications at Entry Level and Levels 1, 2 and 3 in Light Vehicle Mechanics.
Whether you are an experienced teacher or are currently working within industry, you would be thoroughly supported with any training needs you have, to ensure that you are fully equipped to deliver the curriculum and support students gain the skills and knowledge required to succeed in their studies.
This post is eligible for Department of Education funding as part of the Taking Teaching Further programme which aims to encourage applications from individuals currently working in their vocational industry. A successful applicant who has not previously taught will receive additional time off timetable during their first year to enable shadowing of experienced teachers and to enable additional time for planning and preparation. You will also have the opportunity to complete a short Level 3 teaching qualification before progressing in your second year of teaching to a Level 5/6 Certificate in Education or PGCE.
