The College is looking to recruit to two posts; a full-time Lecturer in English on a temporary basis for up to one year and a part-time, permanent part-time Foundation Learning Lecturer, working 23.4 hours per week.

We are keen to hear from candidates with the passion and enthusiasm to engage and inspire our students, with both roles contributing to the delivery of Functional Skills and GCSE English to our learners.

Within the Foundation Learning role you will also support the development of our student’s employability and wider life/independence skills for learners with a range of needs including: high SEN needs (education, health care plans), emotional and social difficulties, NEET learners (not in employment, education or training) and more vulnerable young adult learners.  You will work to re-engage these learners back into education and support their motivation to progress and succeed in employment.

What you can offer us:

  • Minimum Level 3 Vocational qualification or equivalent

  • Good planning, preparation and organisation skills
  • The desire to enthuse and motivate your students to succeed in their studies

In addition, for the Foundation Learning role you will ideally have:

  • An in-depth knowledge of working within this area of teaching
  • An in-depth knowledge of the potential barriers to learning
  • Relative experience with safeguarding and managing such issues

In return we can offer a competitive benefits package including:

  • 51 days’ holiday per year, pro-rata as applicable, including pro-rata of 40 days’ annual leave, 8 bank holidays and 3 ‘given’ days during the Christmas closure period
  • Teachers’ Pension scheme membership
  • A variety of internal and external training opportunities, including studying for additional, related qualifications.
  • Family friendly working options
  • Free staff gym and on site restaurant.

In order to apply for either post please log in and complete the attached application form and return either via Isle of Wight jobs or direct to hr@iwcollege.ac.uk
