All children and adults with care and support needs (CASN)  have the right to be protected from harm

All staff have a key role to play in the prevention of harm and a responsibility to act on any suspicion, concern or disclosure that may indicate that a child or adult with CASN is at risk form harm.

The college work closely with outside agencies to provide robust and timely support and intervention for any child or adult with CASN  that has been OR may be  at risk of harm.

Whilst we will always work openly with parents as far as possible, we reserve the right to contact children’s social care or the police, without notifying parents, if this is believed to be in the child’s best interests. The college recognise the importance of keeping the child at the centre of any decisions, keeping the child  informed and where possible acting in accordance with their wishes. Whilst working with adults with CASN the college work closely with adult social care and will, as far as is reasonably possible, keep the adult informed and act in accordance with their wishes and desired outcome from any safeguarding referral

We will share information with students regularly and freely about organisations and charities that they can talk to outside of college both locally and nationally.

We will deliver training to our students that covers areas of safeguarding, some areas of safeguarding may cause some alarm or concern, we will endeavour to alleviate concerns or worries but recognise the importance of awareness and knowledge as a tool to safeguard our students.  We will deliver this training through a series of on line tutorials, along with face to face tutorials that will be delivered by our Student Mentors.
