To join this course you will need to have 5 GCSE's at grade 4 or above including English and Maths, progressing students may require a minimum of Level 2 qualification in your chosen subject at Merit or above and English language and Maths at Level at grade 4 or above. You also need to have a good level of fitness and be prepared to work towards the fitness requirements of your chosen course.

It caters to those aspiring to join sectors such as the British Army, Royal Navy, RAF, Policing, Prison Service, and Border Force, among others. For those interested in the Ambulance service, it's important to note that a Science subject is required, necessitating consideration of Health and Social Care in your application. This advanced-level course is ideal for candidates who are deeply interested in a career within the services, possess a strong passion for fitness, and are committed to meeting the fitness standards required for entry into their desired service area. The program is both practical and academic, aiming to prepare you for your future career path
What you will learn

The NCFE Level 3 Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services is a practical and theoretical qualification that aims to provide learners with a base level of knowledge and skills within the realms of the Uniformed Public Services, offering progression routes to higher qualifications.

You will undertake a number of units covering core knowledge and skills competencies in a variety of topics relevant to the Uniformed Public Services. Topics will include:

  • Adventurous Activities.
  • Developing Personal Health and Well-Being.
  • Prepare for a career in a chosen uniformed service.
  • Career Planning and Progression.
  • Develop aspects of physical fitness for entry to the uniformed services.
  • Learn about Uniformed services hierarchy and routine.
  • Fitness Testing and Training.
  • Planning and Undertaking Expeditions.
  • Building an Understanding of the Uniformed Public Services.
  • Learn about and use Telecommunications from the uniformed services
  • Basic Day to Day Management of Personal kit and Equipment.
  • Volunteering Activities within the wider community.
  • You will learn about Military Drill and Services Routines.
  • Enhanced Soft Skills such as Clear Communication, Teamwork, Time-Management, Confidence, interview techniques as well as learn and Develop Leadership Skill.
  • Learn about the importance of Equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Carry out map reading and navigation across open country.
  • Skills for land-based outdoor and adventurous activities.
  • Skills for water-based outdoor and adventurous activities.
  • Student Watch Certificate with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police.
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme (Bronze, Silver or Gold)

How you will learn
You will experience a rich and varied curriculum, designed to thoroughly prepare them for careers in the Uniformed Public Services through a blend of practical and theoretical learning. The program encompasses classroom-based and ICT-enhanced instruction, practical participation, competence demonstrations, and real-world insights through excursions and visits from various branches of the Public Services. Key topics covered include Adventurous Activities, Personal Health and Well-Being, career preparation, physical fitness tailored to service requirements, understanding of Uniformed Services hierarchy and routines, telecommunications, personal kit and equipment management, volunteering, military drills, and service routines. Additionally, the course focuses on developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, time management, confidence, and leadership, alongside promoting an understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion. Practical skills training in map reading, navigation, and outdoor activities, both land and water-based, are also integral parts of the curriculum. The inclusion of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme further enriches the learner's development and community involvement. This comprehensive approach ensures that learners not only gain the necessary theoretical knowledge but also develop practical skills and competencies essential for a successful career in the Uniformed Public Services, paving the way for further study and career advancement
Progression
This qualification serves as a solid foundation , enabling learners to acquire, develop, and showcase the necessary skills and knowledge for advancement within the realm of the Uniformed Public Services. It leads to further educational opportunities, specifically into the second year of study, which is designed to equip students with the UCAS points needed for successful university admission. This progression pathway opens doors to higher education and enhances career prospects within the uniformed services, providing a solid foundation for those aiming to pursue a university degree in related fields.
Fees
£250 this includes trips, residentials and activities. You will also need to purchase uniform from IDML which consists of Boots, black combat trousers, PT kit , course T-shirt and Jumper
Qualifications you will get
NCFE Level 3 Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services (540) This is the equivalent to 1.5 A 'Levels In the second year the students can progress to the NCFE Extended Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services.

This is a professional course, that works on getting students ready for a career in a Uniformed Public Setting. You will be expected to take part in Drill, wear a uniform and improve your fitness to the standards of the services you are wanting to join.
