Entry requirements

View The Isle of Wight College's standard entry requirements for full-time college courses (depending on the level of the course to be studied).

Minimum of four GCSEs grade 3/D or equivalent including English language and Maths. For progressing students, a minimum of Level 1 course in your chosen subject at Merit or above and English language and Maths at level 2. Progressing students without English or Maths at GCSE grade 4/C will be required to study these as part of their programme of study.
Who the course is for
This course is for learners who are wanting to focus on men’s hairdressing enabling them to work as a junior unisex hairstylist.
What the interview will involve
You will be sent a career plan prior to your interview date to complete and bring along with you on the day. The interview is a two-way process which will give you the opportunity to discuss the qualification.

How you will learn
Theory/ Workshop sessions- Here you will receive all the essential underpinning knowledge related to the subject area. These sessions are for delivery and demonstration of the practical skills of your qualification. Salon practical sessions- These are designed salon sessions in which you will gain confidence in working in a real salon environment, working on peers, family and friends. As an essential part of learning all students will be expected to receive and complete treatments (unless medically exempt) within the practical sessions from peers.
