Entry requirements

Applicants will need to have 4 GCSEs at grade 2(E) or above including Mathematics, English and ideally Science All candidates need to produce references and to be successful at interview. Because of the practical content of the course, general hand skills and hand/eye co-ordination are essential. Applicants must declare any difficulty with colour perception, as employment opportunities may be restricted

What the interview will involve

You will be sent a career plan prior to your interview date to complete and bring along with you on the day. The interview is a two-way process which will give you the opportunity to discuss the course and suitability with the subject tutor.

What you will learn

The City and Guilds Level 1 Foundation Diploma in Electrical Installation (7202). It is a college-based learning qualification. You will learn:

  • Stucture of the construction industry
  • Fundamental safe working practices
  • Environmental and sustainability measures
  • Site preparation
  • Electrical Installation wiring and termination
  • Fabrication techniques for electrical installation
  • Electrical science and technology
How you will learn
Attendance is normally between 2-3 days a week. Generally there is a requirement for completion of practical exercises and knowledge assessments for each unit. The course is structured and delivered by continuous assessment. It will be your responsibility to update your record book which will show evidence of your experience and achievements.
Progression through to the City & Guilds 5357 NVQ 3 Diploma in Electrotechnical systems, (this is dependent upon adequate work based evidence to support the N.V.Q. assessment )

 The  basic Electricicans tool kit consists of the following:

  • Electricians Cutters    (VDE rated)
  • Electricians Pliers       (VDE rated)
  • Wire Stripping Pliers  (VDE rated)

                            3.5mm Flat Blade Screwdriver (VDE rated)
