We will work with you to determine your suitability for the qualification. This will involve the completion of initial assessments for Maths and English. You must be working in a residential childcare setting within a leadership and management role to enable you to complete this qualification.
Who the course is for
The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is a work-based learning qualification which covers the knowledge and skills necessary to be a competent Level 5 practitioner within a residential care setting. This qualification is aimed at individuals who are providing support in an residential childcare setting. This course is a part time option and is suitable for students 18+ who are working in a residential childcare setting.
What the interview will involve

You will be sent a career plan prior to your interview date to complete and bring along with you on the day. The interview is a two-way process which will give you the opportunity to discuss the course and suitability with the subject tutor.

What you will learn
A variety of mandatory units will be covered, including managing a team, multi-agency working, professional development, the care system and safeguarding.
How you will learn
You will undertake a number of mandatory units covering core knowledge and skills competencies. Knowledge criteria will be covered via assignment work and learners will be offered to attend online workshops every 3-4 weeks, with a qualified assessor. They will support you regularly to help you build a portfolio of evidence, which will consist of written work, workplace observations, verbal discussions etc. You will have access to a range of learning resources whilst you complete your qualification.
Progression
This qualification allows you to learn, develop and demonstrate the skills and knowledge required for employment and/or career progression in supporting children. Following successful completion, you can progress to a higher education course in this area.
