What you will learn

This qualification provides a broad understanding of aviation ground operations and the skills needed to work effectively in this fast-paced, safety-critical environment. You will cover key topics such as:

  • Aviation operations and terminology – Understand airport structures, airline functions, and key roles in the industry.
  • Health, safety, and security – Learn how to operate safely in airside areas, focusing on risk prevention and aviation security procedures.
  • Communication in aviation – Develop clear, accurate communication skills using sector-specific language and protocols.
  • Passenger handling – Gain knowledge of processing passengers, checking documents, and handling baggage to industry standards.
  • Aircraft handling – Explore aircraft boarding, loading/unloading procedures, and the role of ground support teams.

How you will learn

There is no requirement for a work placement, although it may support your learning if available.

  • Progress to further study in related areas, including:

    • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Introduction to Cabin Crew

    • Other vocational qualifications in travel and tourism or customer service

  • Advance in the aviation industry, using this qualification as a stepping stone to more specialised roles or apprenticeships.
