Applicants should hold level 1 Carpentry qualification. Mature learners with appropriate experience may be considered for direct entry to level 2.
Who the course is for
For those who wish to test their aspirations for working within the construction industry. This course will introduce you to a range of construction trades. Site carpentry including: Door hanging, Kitchen fitting, Basic roofing, Straight flight of stairs
What the interview will involve

You will be sent a career plan prior to your interview date to complete and bring along with you on the day. The interview is a two-way process which will give you the opportunity to discuss the course and suitability with the subject tutor.

What you will learn
This course will introduce you to a range of construction trades. Site carpentry including: Door hanging, Kitchen fitting, Basic roofing, Straight flight of stairs.
How you will learn
This programme is delivered through a combination of classroom theory and a predominance of practical skills development. Much of the curriculum deliver is based on the college campus but we also carry out some projects within the community. You will be assessed through Practical and Theory based assessments both in the classroom and workshop. Completion of workbook. Theory test – Online, multiple choice questions Practical, Phase test
Progression
Level 3 Carpentry, Employment, Self employment. There are opportunities for Carpenters all over the United Kingdom. Employers range from small businesses to large organisations. In large companies there may be opportunities for experienced carpenters to become team leaders or supervisors. Some experienced carpenters become self-employed and set up their own businesses.
Fees

The Student Resource Contribution is a fee of £40 charged to all students on a full time programme of study, with the exception of Higher Education courses with a partner university. The college provides a range of services and benefits which support the wellbeing and achievement of all students. This includes the provision of a Student ID card, open access to the internetvia College WiFi across the site for all devices, full use of the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), printing credit as well as use of the Gym and car park. In addition to this there may be a cost involved for purchasing equipment or uniform for your course.Find out about financial support available.

Additional information
You will be required to wear PPE, including safety footwear and work trousers. All practical Carpentry and Joinery tools and equipment will be provided.
