Who the course is for

For those who wish to test their aspirations for working within the construction industry.

What you will learn
full level 1 diploma which includes brick, block and cavity practical builds in both lessons and exams. It allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Bricklaying. It covers the following skills: • Carrying out Blocklaying activities • Carrying out Bricklaying activities • Carrying out Cavity Walling activities • Contribute to Setting Out and Building of Masonry Structures up to Damp Proof Course
How you will learn

This programme is delivered through a combination of classroom theory and a predominance of practical skills development. Much of the curriculum deliver is based on the college campus but we also carry out some projects within the community. You will be assessed through Practical and Theory based assessments both in the classroom and workshop. Completion of workbook. Theory test – Online, multiple choice questions Practical, Phase test.

Progression

Progression onto level 2 Bricklaying. There are opportunities for Bricklayers all over the United Kingdom. Employers range from small businesses to large organisations. In large companies there may be opportunities for experienced carpenters to become team leaders or supervisors. Some experienced brick become self-employed and set up their own businesses.

Qualifications you will get

City and Guilds certificate in construction skills bricklaying

Additional information

You will be required to wear PPE, including safety footwear and work trousers. All practical Carpentry and Joinery tools and equipment will be provided.
