The College offers a range of qualifications for those who are involved or have an interest in the delivery, assessment or quality assurance roles. The qualifications will provide an opportunity to develop and improve knowledge and practice as well as achieving a professional qualification for the role.
This may be accredited learning or where people may assess performance but do not assess for a qualification (i.e. an in-house programme). Achievement of one or more of these qualifications will support managers, teachers, assessors and trainers in the workplace in:
Courses will run throughout the year from October to August with a variety of options or possibly to your requirements.
You will be working in an assessment role assessing competence in a work environment where you assess at least two learners.
You should ideally possess a level 3 qualification in the area you are assessing and have substantial occupational experience. However, the course tutor will ensure that you have the potential to successfully complete the programme before enrolling you.
You will gain an understanding of how to plan for assessment, and to judge and review whether or not requirements have been met, as well as the critical importance of quality assurance in assessment. You will be observed undertaking the role and applying the principles below and demonstrating that you know how to use observation, examining evidence, oral questioning and discussion and witness statements with your learners.

Assessment will be through a flexible learning programme either in small groups or 1-1; based on written assignment, controlled assessment and/or a portfolio of evidence, observation of your practice and 1-1 professional discussion with your assessor.
This course can be ‘topped up’ by adding the practical unit (unit 3) to achieve the ‘Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement’.
