The Intermediate Sport and Fitness Programme will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of sports participation and personal fitness, and develop your understanding of the active leisure industry. You will also have the chance to develop your practical skills for coaching and instructing through practical sessions in the college gym and sports facilities each week.
This course is for anyone who is interested in starting a career in the sport and fitness industry. Students who are interested in both academic and practical studies will do well on the programme.
This is an opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications in sport, coaching, and the leisure industry. The programme will also cover employability skills, to prepare learners for future careers.

You will be assessed by a mixture of written projects and assignments and practical assessment. You will also be required to pass a practical gym coaching session.
Level 2 Certificate in Sport and Active Leisure
Your course will include functional skill modules or GCSE classes to help you develop these essential skills. You will be assessed, and will attend both of the following modules.
Students who successfully complete this course and have gained GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or above have two progression options within college.
Option 1: Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing
Option 2: Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity
students could also progress into entry-level employment in the sport and active leisure industry through an apprenticeship.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
All full time students pay a resource fee plus approx. £115.
