The Isle of Wight College’s Public Services department is an exciting, active and vibrant one and will provide you with all the support and guidance you need to get you qualified for a career with the Police, Fire Service, Prison Service, Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, Marines, or for you to succeed in your application to university. There are clear progression routes that will see you get to where you want to be.

You will learn how the different public services operate and the types of skills that you will need to succeed. You will partake in both theory and practical work. You will learn how to work as a team and to develop leadership and communication skills that are transferable to any public service position.

There will be opportunity to participate in events with front line public services that will enable you to gain valuable, meaningful experiences. You will also enjoy the specialist units such as outdoor and adventurous expeditions, fitness training, expedition skills and water based activities.
