The Isle of Wight College has standard entry requirements for full-time college courses, depending on the level of the course to be studied.
There may be additional entry requirements for a small number of specialist courses. If this course is one of these specialist courses, additional entry requirements will be stated below.
Access to Moving Up is perfect for work place motivated learners with with specific educational needs (SEN) who are preparing to leave full time education (Average age between 18-22 although up to 24 years old can be considered) and to gain entry into the world of work and paid employment. The course is based within the college, with supported time outside college in a workplace.
The course is a one-year programme to start building workplace skills through combined work placements and classroom activities.
A course interview will be required to discuss your past work placements and successes, as well as where you can see yourself working in the future. Successful completion of this interview is required before a place on the programme can be offered.
Access to Moving Up could lead directly to paid employment (full or part time) or a role within the voluntary sector. The main aim of the programme is to prepare all learners to be ready for the workplace and be equipped with the core skills needed to source and sustain employment.
Many of our learners will progress to a second year to complete a full internship subject to application and interview, and having demonstrated commitment and motivation on the Access to Moving Up Programme.
