The Isle of Wight College has standard entry requirements for full-time college courses, depending on the level of the course to be studied.

Those wishing to enter the light transport industry as a repair technician, though the experience gained on this course will assist in an understanding of many other transport related maintenance areas:
Throughout the course, time will be spent undertaking a combination of practical and theoretical learning experiences. It should be noted that some aspects of this course will require private study. You will be expected to study additional qualifications, such as key skills at the appropriate level.
On successful completion separate certificates/units of credit will be awarded.
To be successful at the Advanced level, high levels of Maths and English are required. Learners should have already achieved a C / 4 in both Maths and English Language.
A mix of continuous assessment, internal practical tests and external examinations are used to achieve this nationally recognised qualification from an internationally respected awarding body.
On successful completion of this course students can progress on to a Higher Education Motor vehicle course in their selected discipline or use it as a means of gaining employment within the transport repair industries and associated areas.
This qualification can also be used as an accreditation for MOT tester training.
You will require: relevant work books, stationary etc, specialist text books, safety footwear, two specific coloured boiler suits, safety goggles and there will be a materials charge. It is expected that the total cost of these items will be in the region of £250.
