Entry requirements – We will work with you to determine your suitability for the qualification. This will involve the completion of initial assessments for Maths and English, and a skills scan against your current employment. There is an expectation that you will have already completed the Care Certificate.
What is this course?
The Level 2 Diploma in Care is a work-based learning qualification which was previously known as an NVQ. It covers the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to be a competent Level 2 practitioner within Health and Social Care.
Who is this qualification for?
This qualification is aimed at staff who are providing hands-on care/support in settings such as residential care homes, nursing homes, domiciliary care, supported living, reablement services, or working as personal assistants.
This course is a part time option and is suitable for students 19+ who are already in employment.
What will I learn?
A variety of mandatory and optional units will be covered, including communication, equality and diversity, health and safety, duty of care, handling information, and safeguarding.
How will I learn?
You will undertake a number of mandatory units covering core knowledge and skills competencies, which build on those that have been developed whilst completing the Care Certificate, along with optional specialisms which can be combined in flexible ways to reflect the real context of the setting you work in. This method of delivery allows for a flexible approach which is tailored to each learner. You will have a qualified assessor who will meet with you regularly to help you build a portfolio of evidence, which will consist of written work, workplace observations, verbal discussions and other types of evidence. You will have access to a range of learning resources whilst you complete your qualification.
This qualification allows you to learn, develop and demonstrate the skills and knowledge required for employment and/or career progression in Healthcare and Adult Care settings. Following successful completion, you can progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, providing you are in an appropriate job role.
