The aim of the programme is to encourage independence, confidence and work readiness at a pace suitable for each learner as an individual.

Courses include:

  • Foundation Learning Transition (high needs, SEN, high anxiety) 16-19 years
  • Foundation Learning Vocational 16-19 years
  • Supported Vocational Entry Point 19+ (EHCP), or progression from Foundation Learning Transition
  • Supported Internship Entry Point 19+ (EHCP) (between six months and a full academic year)

Courses provide a more rewarding experience for young people at entry level and Level 1. There are no specific entry requirements but a college interview and initial assessment will help determine if this is the right course for you. The courses are one year duration with the exception of Supported Internships.

The courses are tailored to the needs of the individual who will be required to set their own aims and objectives. 

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

This course is aimed at 16-19 year olds, (up to 25 years old with EHCP).

Here, you will find individual advice and guidance on the right course for you, this will begin to be determined in your first interview.

This course would suit any student looking for a transition year into a college setting, allowing time to discover which route you would like to take.

HOW WILL I LEARN?

Foundation Learning has an experienced teaching team who will support your son/daughter into the further education (FE) setting and college life.

Students will receive a mixture of class based learning, alongside some vocational tasters. There is potential for work experience if available.

Learners will be grouped by learning style & disposition.

  • A further year to concentrate on your vocational choice

  • Supported internships (Moving-Up programmes)
  • Full-time Level 2 Vocational courses
