This Level 3 Diploma is the recognised qualification and is appropriate for staff who work in schools, nursery schools and other Early Years settings. This course can also be undertaken as an Advanced Apprenticeship.
Candidates must be well motivated to learn independently but are fully supported throughout the Diploma by a qualified Assessor.
The Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.
Upon achievement of this qualification it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators.
In response to the Department for Education and National College for Teaching and Leadership Policy. Improving the quality and range of education and childcare from birth to 5 years, we have built a qualification to meet the criteria required for those wishing to become Early Years Educators.

It is essential that Childcare and Education Workers have a genuine interest in children. It is an advantage to be patient, reliable, flexible, cheerful, and enthusiastic and in addition have a sense of humour! Candidates should be able to use their own initiative with a commitment to equal opportunities
You will be expected to work at your own pace under the guidance of your assessor. It is important that you set yourself targets to make sure that you progress steadily.
Your assessor will support you by assessing your practice in the workplace. Your portfolio of evidence is fully assessed to ensure that you have covered all the units to a satisfactory standard to complete the qualification. Assessment enables the learner’s workplace practice to provide evidence for individual units as well as the whole qualification. Methods of assessment could include inference of knowledge from direct observation of practice, witness evidence when directed by the sector skills assessment strategy, professional discussion, reflection on own practice in real work situations, written assignments, learner’s own plans and written records and tasks for knowledge learning outcomes only. The qualification will be a pass or refer and all the assessment criteria of the chosen units must be achieved in order to obtain a pass. Upon completion you will receive a certificate showing all the units achieved.
This is an advanced level course, learners can progress to the foundation degree in Early Years and other programmes at levels 4 and 5..
This course is for those with a genuine interest in children and a desire to be involved with their care, development and education. This qualification is suitable for a range of learners, either working or wishing to work in early years education and care.
All learners who achieve an Early Years Educator qualification will need GCSE English and maths grade 4 – 9 (C – A*) to count in the ratios at level 3 in childcare settings. While there is no requirement for learners to have achieved GCSE English and maths upon commencement or completion of a standalone Early Years Educator qualification, providers are expected to support learners who need to achieve English and maths GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above alongside the qualification in order to gain employment
Upon achievement of this qualification learners will gain their licence to practise and it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators.
