The Isle of Wight College has standard entry requirements for full-time college courses, depending on the level of the course to be studied.
There may be additional entry requirements for a small number of specialist courses. If this course is one of these specialist courses, additional entry requirements will be stated below.
The interview process will involve Maths and English assessment along with an informal discussion with one of the team members, the whole process should take no longer than three hours.
This course will introduce you to a range of construction trades.
English and Maths, based upon the principles needed in the construction industry.
Site carpentry including:
Work placements and any work experience are highly desirable but subject to availability. All candidates are expected, and encouraged, to do their best to gain purposeful work experience during their course. We will do all we can to assist in finding suitable opportunities.
The timetable is designed to give all candidates the opportunity to complete at least 36 hours of work experience within the academic week.
You will learn in a friendly supportive environment to build your confidence and ability in basic number, communication and hand skills.
This course on completion can lead to other Advanced Technical courses in Construction in to a sole trade area or onto a Technical Maintenance Operations qualification.
Dependent on a successful interview. (in the longer term you may become one of the 370,000 new entrants to the industry who will be needed to replace those who will retire or leave in the next few years)
