The course is for those wishing to train in finance, and those who already work in this area and want a nationally recognised accounting qualification. The course can support a student in progressing onto the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.
The AAT courses cover all aspects of accounting including Basic Financial Accounting, Basic Cost Accounting and Computerised Accounting. A detailed prospectus is available for each level and more information is available on the AAT website at www.aat.org.uk.
Level 2 students will be required to attend college for 3 hours per week over 36 weeks.
Classes will combine conventional lectures with practical task based learning exercises. In addition to scheduled classes students are provided with work books which they are expected to study and work through at home. Students should expect to study at home for a minimum of 3 hours per week. Students will also be given guidance on how to use the college intranet.
Assessment at Level 2 is primarily by computer based examinations set by the AAT.
On successful completion of level 2 the student may wish to progress to level 3.
On successful completion of level 2 the student are employable in low level finance based functions. Progression and successful completion of level 3 broadens as student employment options as well as the ability to progress on to level 4 or university.
