For those, who have completed their Level 2 hairdressing or Level 3 hairdressing Certificate. Who have a passion for hairdressing and who would like to develop and enhance their hairdressing skills and knowledge to a higher level.
This course is delivered by specialist staff, who have years of industry experience along with specialist qualifications.
This programme incorporates student participation, theory input, and demonstration, including lectures, discussions, projects, case studies, external examination, self-directed study, using multimedia approach where appropriate and synoptic assessments.
This helps students to develop core skills required for the industry which includes the ability to meet deadlines and retention of knowledge as well as application of skills in a professional environment.
Students are assessed and graded through practical observation, case studies, questioning, along with external examinations.
Within the programme, students receive full support in their skill development and acquisition of competence. Specialist learning support is available.
Work experience and professional experience is incorporated within a commercial environment both in college and as a structured work experience programme located in commercial salons, where available. This promotes increased employment opportunities. As part of the course, the college encourages students to attend exhibitions and trips.
All students are expected to wear a uniform in the salons, which will be purchased by themselves (pricing TBC).
As part of your programme of study you may be expected to attend an external work placement for 50 working days each year.
This will give you occupationally specific training focussed on developing practical and technical skills in the workplace.
As part of this course you will attend English and maths sessions if you are aged between 16-18 years old.
These classes will be with subject specialists and delivered at a level to suit you.
There is a varied range of opportunities for those with the right outlook and attitude in the world of hairdressing. Successful students will find outlets for their skills in: salons (as a stylist), salon ownership/self-employment, health farms, cruise liners, television, films and the fashion industry along with University courses.
Opportunities exist for students to obtain additional qualifications after completion of their Level 3 Certificate/ Diploma in Hairdressing
