If you need to improve your English and maths skills, we can help. Achieving good levels of English & maths skills are important in all aspects of daily life and can be key to obtaining a new job or promotion or progressing to higher levels of learning. We also run a range of courses funded by the Adult Education Budget (SkillUp). These are subject to individual circumstances, but are free to the majority of applicants.

Weekly classes

Our weekly classes are held at a variety of times/days including evenings. These qualifications are FREE OF CHARGE! Our inspirational staff are very approachable and experienced in teaching a wide range of abilities. We are also here to boost self-esteem and increase your confidence in an environment sensitive to your individual needs in order to get you the qualifications you need.

At the Isle of Wight College, we have 2 routes available for improving English and maths skills, Functional Skills or GCSE. Our GCSE courses are aimed at learners who have already achieved a grade 3/D at GCSE. Alternatively, we have the Functional Skills route. We offer Functional Skills Level 1 and 2 and these qualifications equip learners with the skills needed for their working and personal lives allowing learners to apply core skills to real-life situations.

*All our English and maths courses are FREE if you do not already have GCSE grade C/4 or above in these subjects
