Robyn Winson (19) currently in the final year of the BTEC National Diploma in Travel and Tourism is celebrating for gaining her dream job as a Holiday Rep with TUI Travel.
Robyn applied for the Holiday Rep job in December and within a week had been invited for an interview in London with TUI Travel.
TUI Travel is one of the biggest Tour Operators in the UK running companies such as First Choice and Thomson.
Robyn’s interview was on the 6 January and took place over the course of the day, with a variety of assessments including role plays, personal presentations and a maths test. Part of the assessments required Robyn to sell excursions and to deal with questions and complaints.
All the presentations and role plays were undertaken in front of the group of nearly 20 applicants and 8 interviewers. Robyn was the youngest person there with all other applicant’s being ten years her senior.
The course really helped me get through all the interview tasks; I wouldn’t have been able to do it if I hadn’t done the course!… The experience of doing resort rep role plays and welcome meetings gave me the confidence to get up and do it.Robyn Winson
Following the face to face interview day, Robyn had a telephone interview the next day where she had to answer more questions and say how she would deal with typical Rep situations such as customer losing luggage or passport. The telephone interview lasted 40 minutes, at the end of which she was told she would hear back within a week. The following Monday afternoon Robyn received a call telling her she had been successful with her interview.
Robyn has now been told she will be flying to either Spain or Turkey on the 15 June to start work with TUI Travel. Robyn said “I am so pleased and excited about my new job… I can’t wait to start!”
