Last month, business students from the Isle of Wight College undertook training to become environmental auditors for the Green Impact programme.
They developed skills in analytical thinking, attention to detail, decision making, organisation, writing reports and professionalism. By taking part in this training, students received a certificate and advice on how to include this experience in job applications.
Green Impact is one of the most widespread and long-standing programmes at Students Organising for Sustainability, designed to support environmentally and socially sustainable practice within organisations through encouraging teams of staff and students to take positive actions.
The programme has spread to a diverse range of organisations, from Universities and Student Unions to NHS trusts and Councils, as well as expanding internationally across Europe, Canada and Australasia. Over 450 organisations have run Green Impact and over 4,500 students have been trained as auditors.
Green Impact has been running on the Isle of Wight since 2018 and organisations across the Island take part each year. This year, organisations included the Isle of Wight Council, Vikoma, Nature Therapy, PC Consultants and more
