This is a unique opportunity for a hardworking, pro-active apprentice to join the sub-assembly team at Northstar Conversions.

Based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, Northstar Conversions Limited is a family run business converting all types of vehicles into affordable and practical campers.

Northstar Conversions Ltd is a one stop shop for all your campervan dreams. The team at Northstar Conversion are always happy to advise on the type of vehicle or conversions that would best suit customer needs to ensure your campervan will be your holiday home from home.

Northstar Conversions are now looking for the next engineering apprentice to join their friendly team to work within the sub-assembly department.

Apprentice Role and Responsibilities:

• The successful apprentice will be working within the sub-assembly area
• Trimming and building campervan furniture ready to be installed into vehicles by their vehicle fitters     
• Routing and trimming pre-cut boards and fitting them together to build campervan kitchens and tables      
• Mixture of using power and hand tools will be required

Essential Skills and Qualities:     

• The ability to correctly follow instructions      
• Be flexible and adaptable      
• Have a keen eye for detail      
• Possess excellent organisational skills      
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – both written and oral      
• Excellent team working skills

Qualifications Required:

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English & Maths (or equivalent qualification and/or ability to work towards these Functional Skills) 

Apprenticeship:  

• Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship Standard
• One day weekly attendance at CECAMM    
• Functional Skills in Maths and English if required  
• There is a requirement to complete 20% off the job training, this includes time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role

Working Week:       

39 hours per week        

Monday to Thursday 7am to 4pm        

Friday 7am to 12pm

Wage:       

£4.81 per hour

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £4.81 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there will be the potential for a permanent position.
