Based in Totland, West Wight, St. Saviour’s Catholic Primary school require an enthusiastic team player to be the ‘friendly & welcoming’ front face of our school. Working as part of our administrative team, this apprenticeship will be providing you with skills and training to deliver high quality administrative support to ensure the effective day to day running of our school office.

In addition to your training through St. Saviour’s you will also attend sessions at the Isle of Wight College to achieve your Business Administration Level 3.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake reception duties, answering general telephone and face-to-face enquiries and signing in visitors.
  • Assist with pupil first aid / welfare duties, looking after sick pupils, liaising with parents /staff etc.
  • Assist in arrangements for school trips, events and fixtures.
  • Operate relevant equipment / complex ICT packages (e.g. Word, Excel, databases, Internet).
  • Monitor and maintain stock and supplies, cataloguing and distributing as required.
  • Operate uniform / snack / other ‘shops’ within the school.
  • Provide advice and guidance to staff, pupils and others.
  • Undertake general financial and HR administration.
  • Manage administration of facilities including use of school premises.
  • Undertake research and obtain information to inform decisions.
  • Monitor and maintain stock and supplies, cataloguing and distributing as required.
  • Provide advice and guidance to staff, pupils and others.

Based in Totland, West Wight, we St. Saviour’s is a rural primary school with a capacity for 140 children, we have a thriving Nursery and Church on site, together with a large carpark.

Apprenticeship Standard: 

  • Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English if required and if not previously achieved GCSE grade 4 or above
  • There is a requirement to complete 20% off the job training, time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role will also be counted
  • Attendance at Isle of Wight College as required

Working Week:

  • Mon – Fri. 08.30 – 15:00  
  • 30 hours per week 


  • £5.00 per hour (above the recommended National Minimum Wage).

Closing date for applications is 10th December with the view for the school to carry out interviews with the successful shortlisted candidates the week after.

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £4.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Once qualified and dependant on needs of the school at the time of apprenticeship completion, there may be the potential for a permanent position. Scope is provided to further continue your studies if desired and our previous Admin apprentice is currently completing their Level 4 School Business Professional qualification with the school.
