Here at The Isle of Wight College we work with a number of employers, in a vast array of industries. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work for Jigsaw/Tidal Family Support as an Administration Assistant Apprentice.

Based in Ryde. Jigsaw/Tidal Family Support is a community based; non-profit child-focused organisation that works with everyone affected by family separation.

The team is made up of committed local professionals with experience in Mental Health, Family Counselling, Mediation, Family Law and Psychotherapy, as well as parents who have recognised qualifications and many years’ experience of working with families.

The charity work alongside many professionals such as solicitors, social services, schools, Cafcass, Family Courts as well as many other Professionals that have asked for help and support for separated families they work with.

Rather excitingly, they are now looking to recruit a Business Administrator apprentice into the organisation.

 Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Use a word processing package such as Microsoft Word to create documents.
  • Compose and send letters to clients and certain parties/professionals
  • Deal with telephone and email enquiries (making and receiving), by using the email system Outlook, with the understanding of confidentiality.
  • Photocopy and print various documents, sometimes on behalf of other colleagues.
  • Organise and store paperwork, documents and computer-based information.
  • Create and maintain filing and other office systems.
  • Maintain diaries and arrange appointments for particular clients and colleagues.
  • Possibly schedule and attend meetings, create agendas and take minutes – shorthand may be required.
  • Maintain stationery and equipment.
  • Comply to all health & safety compliance regulations and sanitisation due to Covid 19

Qualifications and Experience:

(Essential = E / Desirable = D)

  • Experience in admin/ICT (D)
  • Qualifications of English language GCSE 4 or above (E)
  • Qualifications of business administration C or above (D)

Apprenticeship Standard:

  • Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard
  • 18 – 24-month Apprenticeship
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English if required and if not previously achieved GCSE grade 4/C or above
  • There is a requirement to complete 20% off the job training, time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role will also be counted
  • Attendance at college as required for monthly workshops

Working Week

  • 30 hours per week
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, & Saturday

Wage

  • £4.30 per hour

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £4.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Once qualified and dependant on needs of the business at the time of apprenticeship completion, there may be the potential for a permanent position.
